Sigma 65mm

Stylishly sleek, the Leica L-mount Sigma 65mm f2 DG DN Contemporary Lens is a shot-tele/long-normal prime offering a unique field of view well-suited to portraiture and selective everyday shooting. Complementing the slightly long focal length is a bright f2 design that helps to maintain a portable form factor while also contributing to low-light performance and depth of field control.

Optically, this 65mm f2 includes a pair of aspherical elements and one low dispersion element in its design to control a variety of aberrations and achieve notable sharpness and clarity. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied, which reduces flare and ghosting for greater contrast.

Benefitting handling, this lens features a stepping motor for quick and quiet AF performance that suits both photo and video applications. As an I Series lens, too, this lens incorporates a manual aperture ring and all-metal barrel constriction into its design for enhanced tactility.

Additionally, there is a rounded nine-blade diaphragm for smooth bokeh quality and the lens housing is also weather-sealed to suit working in inclement conditions.

Sigma 65mm

  • As part of the Contemporary line within Sigma’s Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve a balance between convenience and performance, and meshes a compact, lightweight build and versatile handling with notable optical attributes.
  • I Series lens emphasizes a sleek and stylish physical design that is built to the same operational standards of Sigma’s Cine lenses, including a mechanical aperture ring, knurled metal components, and various switches and tactile controls for intuitive operation.
  • Long-normal 65mm lens is designed for full-frame Leica L-mount mirrorless cameras, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 97.5mm equivalent focal length.
  • Bright f2 maximum aperture strikes and ideal balance between speed and size and manages to maintain a compact physical profile while also offering low-light performance and depth of field control.
  • One Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element markedly reduces chromatic aberrations and colour fringing for improved clarity and colour accuracy.
  • Two aspherical elements help to control distortion and spherical aberrations for a high degree of sharpness and accurate rendering.
  • A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and colour-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.
  • Integrated stepping motor realizes smooth and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an internal focusing design to promote greater responsiveness.
  • Manual aperture ring includes an ‘A’ position for camera-based aperture selection.
  • Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.
  • Brass bayonet affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity and rubber sealing is incorporated in the mount’s design to render it dust- and splash-resistant.
  • Included LCF62-01M magnetic lens cap attaches directly to the front of the lens and is compatible with the optional CH-11 Lens Cap Holder.

The Sigma 65mm f2 DG DN Contemporary Lens for Leica L is a short-tele/long-normal prime well-suited to portraiture and selective everyday shooting.

Long supported among photography lovers and even used for shooting films, a 65mm lens allows a slightly more compressed perspective than standard lenses, opening up a variety of creative approaches for both photography and film-making.

This ultra-sharp lens can capture extremely fine detail even wide open at its maximum aperture of f2, and produces large and round bokeh. Furthermore, its all-metal body, which is a feature across all I series lenses, and the design with great care paid on the touch and even how delightful the sound made during operation is will make the lens a joy to use and own.

A compact, short telephoto prime that offers a stunning photographic experience for mirrorless users.

The SIGMA I series introduces compact, beautifully designed, high-performance optics for mirrorless camera systems. In its first collection, SIGMA introduces a high-spec, daily use lens to the Contemporary lens line-up, which combines excellent resolving power with a small body that is perfectly weighted for mirrorless systems.

Sigma 65mm

New standards of optical performance for the Contemporary line

The 65mm F2 DG DN Contemporary brings to the table the highest level of optical performance at a maximum aperture of F2 with a lens body of a size that matches a mirrorless system.

Axial chromatic aberration, which tends to be noticeable with medium and telephoto lenses and cannot be effectively reduced in-camera, is corrected thoroughly with the use of SLD glass, allowing it to capture sharp details. A pair of glass-moulded aspherical lenses is used to correct spherical and chromatic aberration, as well as astigmatism, while also helping make the lens configuration smaller in size. A combination of the latest optical design with advanced processing technology that brings life to the former gives the 65mm F2 DG DN Contemporary its excellent optical performance as well as compact size.

In addition to the beautiful bokeh effect thanks to the control of spherical aberration, the reduced vignetting effects help curb lemon-shaped or swirly bokeh and give photographers greater control over the out of focus areas of their images. On top of it all, the SIGMA-standard anti-ghosting and anti-flare technology ensure high-end performance in backlit conditions.

Use of multiple high-precision aspherical glass moulded lenses

The surface of moulds for glass moulding, which is a process that forms optical components by pressing glass materials at high temperatures, requires ultra-high precision. SIGMA uses high-precision moulds whose surfaces are controlled with an accuracy of ±5 nanometers (0.000005 mm) or smaller. High precision aspherical glass moulded lenses archives both good aberration correction and compact lens size.

Exceptional I series build quality with a compact form-factor

All I series lenses have an all-metal construction. The precision-cut aluminium parts not only give the barrel a sleek, stylish finish, but provide superb durability, which improves the quality of the entire product. Metal materials are also used in internal structures that slide with the operation ring for added robustness.

These high-precision components crafted with SIGMA’s cutting-edge metalworking technology are also used in SIGMA’s cine lens line-up for professional cinematographers and provides an exquisite feel to touch as well as sound effects, making photographers want to reach for it and play with it over and over again.

The cover ring between the focus ring and the aperture ring has hairline processing that is also used for the rear cylinder of the Art line. This covering functions as a finger hold when attaching or detaching the lens.
