From environmental portraits and weddings to everyday documentary photography, it lets you place your subject within the scene while separating it with smooth background blur.

A redesigned optical construction uses 15 elements in 12 groups, including two SLD and four aspherical elements, to control aberrations and retain fine detail across the frame. The 11-blade rounded diaphragm creates natural-looking bokeh, while Advanced Amorphous Coating helps reduce ghosting and flare for clear, high-contrast images.

Dual HLA autofocus delivers fast, accurate and quiet focusing for still photographs and video. A minimum focusing distance of 28 cm gives you freedom to explore close details, while suppressed focus breathing helps maintain a natural perspective during video focus transitions. The aperture ring offers selectable clicks and a lock, and two AFL buttons support customisable control on compatible cameras.

The Sony E version weighs 525 g without packaging and measures 73 mm in diameter by 96 mm in length. Its 67 mm filter thread supports practical creative filter options. A dust- and splash-resistant structure and water- and oil-repellent front coating support outdoor use, although the lens is not waterproof.

The lens is available at Foto Discount World in Pretoria, your authorised dealer, with a minimum 1-year warranty.
