Description
Sigma 85mm
Sigma looked to create a peak portrait prime with the SIGMA LENS 85 F1.4 DG HSM CANON ART , and they delivered an optic with high performance, a large f/1.4 aperture, and a variety of technologies.
Available here with a Canon EF mount, the “SIGMA LENS 85” F1.4 DG HSM CANON ART offers a super-fast f/1.4 aperture that is great for getting images with an exceptionally shallow depth of field and smooth bokeh. It also uses two SLD elements, one anomalous partial dispersion/high-refractive index element, and one aspherical element that minimize aberrations and ensures a crisp, clear image. A Super Multi-Layer coating helps by suppressing flare and ghosting.
For operation, a Hyper Sonic AF motor provides fast, accurate focusing and a large focusing ring permits manual focus override for making fine adjustments. A rounded 9-blade diaphragm also helps create round, smooth bokeh. It is made from a thermally-stable composite material that is light and durable and it has a brass bayonet mount. Additionally, it is fully compatible with Sigma’s USB Dock.
FEATURES
- As part of the Art line within Sigma’s Global Vision series, this lens’ is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications.
- This short telephoto 85mm f/1.4 prime lens is designed for full-frame format Canon EF-mount cameras, and can also be used with APS-C models where it will provide a 136mm equivalent focal length.
- Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture is well-suited for working in low-light conditions and also provides greater control over the focus position when using shallow depth of field techniques.
- Two SLD elements, one element with a high rate of anomalous partial dispersion and a high index of refraction, and one aspherical element have been incorporated within the lens design to correct for chromatic aberrations throughout the entire focusing range and help to ensure high image sharpness, clarity, and contrast regardless of focus point or aperture setting. This optical design also helps to control distortion and limit vignetting.
- A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.
- The integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) realizes quick and quiet autofocusing, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.
- A rounded nine-blade diaphragm helps to produce an attractive out-of-focus quality.
- The SIGMA LENS 85 F1.4 DG HSM CANON ART is constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material, along with traditional metals, for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations.
- The bayonet mount is constructed from brass for ensured accuracy and durability.
- This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware.
Sigma 85mm
The Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art is the perfect full-frame portrait lens for individuals seeking the absolute best image quality. The Sigma 85mm Art utilises a complex lens construction of 14 lens elements in 12 groups with special elements and coatings to produce a lens that can capture crisp details on 50MP and higher sensors.
A fast maximum aperture of f/1.4 and telephoto focal length of 85mm makes the lens the ideal portrait lens as the focal length enables you to capture close-up’s without getting uncomfortably close, while the fast maximum aperture enables you to blur your background. This lens model features a full-frame EF mount to make it compatible with Canon’s full-frame and cropped sensor DSLR cameras.
f/1.4 Maximum aperture, prime 85mm focal length, full-frame, circular 9-blade diaphragm. All these properties creates fantastic compression and bokeh
Want to have that professional close-up shot where the subject is tack sharp and the background is completely blown out with a smooth blur, and maybe even with some circular light? Then a fixed/prime telephoto lens with a fast circular bladed aperture is what you need. With a telephoto 85mm focal length, wide-open f/1.4 aperture, and circular 9-blade diaphragm, the Sigma 85mm Art will most certainly not just deliver, but amaze.
Put on the included lens hood, shoot at f/1.4 and forget about lens artifacts ruining your image
The Sigma 85mm 1.4 Art is designed to be shot at wide open apertures. Two lens elements made of SLD (Special Low Dispersion Glass), one element with a high rate of anomalous partial dispersion and a high index of refraction, and super multi-layer coatings work together to greatly reduce any unwanted aberrations, flares, ghosting, and other unwanted artefacts.
Ready for 50+ megapixel sensors
With a complex lens construction and high quality optics the Sigma 85mm Art is future proof and ready for increased megapixel sensor DSLR’s.
Newly designed HSM Autofocus motor
The Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art incorporates a newly designed Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) that offers 1.3 times the torque of its predecessor with even better AF algorithms. The autofocus motor also accepts manual focus overrides-even during continuous AF.
Dust- and moisture-resistant construction
The lens mount features a rubber sealing to protect both the lens and camera from dust and moisture; and both the front and rear lenses feature a water- and oil-repellent coating that protects the lens from drizzle, dust, and fingerprints.
Upgrade or fine tune the lens firmware with the Sigma USB dock (Not included)
The 85mm 1.4 like all other art lenses are compatible with Sigma’s USB Dock. By syncing the lens and dock with a internet connected PC the lens’s firmware can be upgraded to support the latest DSLR’s
